Borderless: 9 in 10 Gay Men Don't Care Where Their Match Lives

We analyzed 112,678 anonymous matches across 61,387 users on our free gay video chat platform — our largest dataset yet. The clearest signal: geography barely matters. Given the option to filter matches by country, the overwhelming majority of men simply leave it open to the entire world.

Finding 1: Gay video chat is borderless

Every user can narrow their matches to a specific country. Almost nobody does. Of 61,387 users, 55,767 (91%) left matching wide open to the whole world — only 5,620 (9%) set a country preference at all.

It's a striking contrast with mainstream dating apps, where distance and location are the organizing principle of the entire experience. On anonymous video chat, the instinct flips: men opt into the global pool by default. Nationality, timezone and language become things to discover in the moment, not filters to screen for up front.

Finding 2: Gen Z owns gay video chat

The platform skews young, and hard. 64% of users are 18–24, and 86% are under 35. The over-45 crowd — the demographic mainstream gay apps have historically been built around — is barely 7% combined.

This is the generation that grew up after Omegle, on video-first, no-signup, anonymous platforms. They're not filling out profiles or swiping; they're opening a camera and connecting in seconds.

Finding 3: The two-minute rule holds

Attraction on video chat is decided fast. Two out of three matches (65%) land in the 1–3 minute range — long enough to be a real connection, short enough that there's no small talk to hide behind. Roughly 1 in 5 wrap up inside a minute, and a committed 15% push past three minutes, with a small tail running beyond ten.

Finding 4: The world logs on at 9 PM UTC

Matching runs around the clock — it's a global, anonymous platform — but it isn't flat. Activity builds through the day and peaks at 21:00–22:00 UTC: prime-time evening in Europe, afternoon-into-evening across the Americas. The quietest stretch is late morning UTC (09:00–11:00), when Europe is at work and the US is asleep.

What it adds up to

Put the four findings together and a coherent portrait emerges: a young, global, come-as-you-are audience that treats video chat less like a dating app and more like walking into a room full of strangers from every country at once. No filters, no profiles, no distance radius — just a camera, a stranger, and about two minutes to see if it clicks.
